H*A*S*H was an alternative x-mas calendar show produced by Bald Film in 2009.
The technique was handpuppets cast in latex with a mouth mechanism, that could be controlled with 2 fingers. Each puppet was controllable with just one hand. My role was as a sculptor of heads. This little “Behind the scenes” film gives a really good glimpse into the process.
Strings was a very ambitious and beautiful marionette puppet feature film.
Since all the strings of course were very prominent in each scene, they were given a meaningful purpose in this fictional world by the scriptwriters.
The controllers for the main characters were very elaborate with mechanisms for eye blinks and movement of each finger individually. In some scenes each puppet would have 5-6 puppeteers controlling just one puppet from ledges built high up under the studio ceiling.
Also the sets were very epic. In the rainy scenes, water was sprinkled down the sets and puppets during days of shooting.
